Wie gewinne ich (die Liebe eines Mannes)

finished (2014)

Once upon a time in our early twenties, my friend Marei and I would bond over our desire for male attention — and disgust about the very same. For my 20th (maybe?) birthday, she gave me a century-old advice volume “for young ladies,” reprinted for modern times as a slim gift book.

Written by a stern Elder Lady, it was titled How To Win A Man’s Love. It was full of “nuanced” advice like “take care of your hands and also don’t be loud in front of a man, silly girl.”

One day, Marei started “taking notes” while I read from the book. Though we were both doubled over laughing for about three hours straight, when I got to the end of the book, Marei had produced poetry. The poems made us laugh even harder than the book itself. They required bookification. This is the result.
